A Bit About Myself

I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and I offer private sessions for a wide range of issues. I think that sometimes we just need a little bit of outside help and counselling is a way in which I can support you to work with your concerns in a safe environment.

My counselling approach can be described as integrative. I like to work holistically, taking the whole of the person into account. I originally trained in the person-centred approach, which believes in the potential of everyone and the possibility of growth, given the right conditions.  Since then I have continued to further my knowledge, which includes training in Jungian approaches, psychodynamics, CBT techniques, expressive therapy, Mindfulness and Compassion. My approach is to be beside you and we will work together with whatever issues you choose to bring.

Just to tell you a little something about myself...I have a diploma in person-centred counselling and a post graduate qualification in counselling and psychotherapy. I think learning is life-long and I also have a background in tutoring, spending much of my working life in the education field. In addition, I have worked and volunteered in the charity sector, so I have some experience of working with people who themselves have a range of experiences and backgrounds. I've also supplemented my training with various other studies, including mindfulness-based therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. I developed a particular interest in working online (in elearning and counselling) as I think it can provide greater flexibility. I am based in Lancaster, Lancashire (UK) but most of my work nowadays takes place online.

When I'm not working I spend much of my time creating (sculpting, painting, or dabbling in my art journals) or enjoying being outdoors in nature (whether it is just outside my backdoor or taking a stroll by the coast).  I have found these to be an important part of my own self-care.
